How we operate
Four rules we do not negotiate
Every one of these cost us a contract at some point. All four are still here.
The instrument does not have an opinion
Our vehicles record returns. They do not decide what is interesting, they do not flag features, and they do not summarise. Interpretation happens on deck, by a person, with their name against it.
A seam is where the ocean gets in
Pressure housings are machined from single billets. Every avoidable joint is removed at the design stage rather than inspected forever afterwards.
Deliver the raw returns
Every gridded product ships with the data it was built from. A client who cannot reproduce our result has been given a conclusion, not evidence.
Recovery is the mission
A vehicle that gathers perfect data and does not come back has failed. Energy reserves are hard limits that science cannot borrow against, and no surface operator can override them.

Formed around one hull
Four engineers, a leased workshop on a working quay, and a pressure vessel that failed its first qualification dive at 2,100 metres.
2018
First commercial campaign
A 40 kilometre cable route survey that took three attempts. The third one worked and the client came back.
2021
DRIFTER enters service
Buoyancy driven endurance, built because a client asked a question that could not be answered inside a survey window.
2023
Full ocean depth qualification
HALVARD-9 certified to 6,000 metres after fourteen months of hull testing and one destroyed prototype.
2026
Twenty-one hulls, three classes
Operating from two ports with a standing rule that no hull deploys without a named person accountable for its recovery.
